TOFO SURF CLUB

In the middle of Tofo, just up the from the market and across the road from the police station, you’ll find the Tofo Surf Club.

A line of well-used surfboards in wooden racks along the one wall, a screeded concrete floor and a roof made from woven palm fronds – which will soon need replacing – provide the entirety of this humble structure. Sung Min Cho, known simply as Mini, provides the leadership.

He’s the Country Director, and runs the day-to-day operations of the club; while also setting the benchmark for the kind of performance surfing that both the club and the broader surf community aspire to. Born in Inhambane,
