WhiskyBrother, named single outlet retailer of the year at the Icons of Whisky in 2020, has opened two new stores in Johannesburg over the last two years offering the same customer service, range of products and premium shopping environment in a smaller package. These satellite stores continue to specialise in whisky, offering the largest range in South Africa as well as whisky books, tasting sets, glassware, and single cask exclusives from brands and distilleries historically unavailable in the city.

Opened in 2021, McCallum and Sons Whisky Co. is an independent whisky shop dedicated to giving customers a luxury experience. Founders Maxine and Glen have no prior formal experience, but a wealth of knowledge and love for curating customer experiences. The company’s success is said to come from prioritising the education of its customers, as well as showcasing spirits at a range of price points.

To meet the growing demand for international whiskies, Waitrose is continually adding new varieties from around the world to its already large range of whiskies. Four new lines were entered into the supermarket’s press tastings in September 2022. In total 180 whiskies are now sold by Waitrose, with styles ranging from single malts made in the remote Scottish Highlands to whiskies blended in the islands of Japan, which can be purchased in branch or online. The supermarket also provides an in-depth guide to help customers find the perfect whisky (or whiskies) for them.
