Global tourism is at an all-time high and only becoming more popular each year. It’s nearly impossible to find anywhere on this planet that people haven’t been to before, and some of the most scenic locations are inevitably the most crowded. Even in just the last 10 years that I have been traveling the world while working full-time as a nature photographer, I have seen visitation in some of my favorite places double, triple or quadruple.
As photographers, we can find it easy to become jaded from all of the imagery we are constantly flooded with on our screens. Seeing photo after photo of the same recognizable viewpoints can make us feel like there is no reason to go anywhere since it’s “all been done before.” But I think this belief is very uncreative; you’re already assuming that you can’t make something unique before arriving somewhere and checking it out yourself. Giving up before you even try.
