Featured and reported in the September 18, 1968 edition of Motor Cycle (‘’ had been dropped by then), this picture was announced thus by contributor ‘Nitor’ (which was assistant editor George Wilson, though the name was used by others too): “Many top drivers in motorsport were once enthusiastic motorcyclists. I’ve just discovered that Carlo Abarth, founder and boss of the famous Turin concern that specialises in speed equipment and zippy cars, was for five years the sidecar racing champion of Austria.
