The 1953 Norton-West 200 (NW200), held as usual on Northern Ireland’s ‘triangle’ road circuit between three towns (Portstewart, Portrush and Glens), welcomed an unusual guest, in the form of the radical Norton racer. Pictured here in the race itself, Rhodesian Ray Amm is at the controls, sweeping through Harry’s Corner ahead of W H Spence (on an ‘SS’ – which looks like a modified KTT Velocette) in the Junior race.
