Giacomo The Great is star guest

The man whose GP wins-world record will most likely never be beaten, Giacomo Agostini, will be star guest at the 2023 April Stafford show, over the weekend of the 22nd/23rd.

Top finisher in 122 GPs and 15 world championships, Italian Giacomo did the majority of his winning on MV Agustas – but not all, as his last two world titles came for Yamaha.

He’ll be at the show both days, being interviewed on stage various times over the weekend.

The show also sees the launch of a new book written by TCM editor James Robinson – “Agostini on the British circuits” – which is a collection of superb images pictorially documenting ‘Ago’s’ career at the TT and elsewhere in the UK. Copies will be on sale at the show and also available from mortonsbooks.co.uk As well as Agostini, there’s myriad other attractions too, including a Grand Prix paddock fire-up area, lots of trade and manufacturer stands (including the first appearances of CCM and Bridgestone Tyres), a steam motorcycle – especially fitting given this month’s article, from page 72, on trends – and stunt displays from the On the Edge team, plus, from the Sammy Miller Museum, the famous Norton Kneeler, aka the Silver Fish or indeed Flying Fish. Have a look at page 16 to see a picture of the Norton in action in 1953.
