Reduce Chrome’s memory and power usage

Chrome 110, which was released in February, introduced two useful features called ‘Memory saver’ and Energy Saver. Previously, these were available as ‘flags’ (experiments) that you needed to activate yourself (we covered them in Issues 649 and 647 respectively), but they can now be found in the new Performance section of the browser’s Settings.

‘Memory saver’ ( in our screenshot below) stops Chrome hogging RAM and slowing down your PC, by freeing up memory from inactive tabs – Google claims it can reduce‘Always keep these sites active’, enter the site’s URL then click Add.
