Peter, you’ve been involved with watersports for a long time. Can you take us through your timeline in the industry?
I’ve loved watersports all my life and had the opportunity to experience them from a young age as my family were sailors. I loved to get involved with our sailing club, and in the 1980s I learnt how to make windsurf sails from a sailmaker there. At the end of the '90s I’d got into kiting and was living in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, coincidentally as a neighbor of the Legaignoux brothers, the founders of the sport. By 2001 I’d turned my hand to designing kites, and the year after I went to work for a factory in Asia that made kites for Liquid Force, Cabarete Kites and also for Best Kiteboarding for 15 years. During my time there I developed all of the kite production and worked on new concepts, new raw materials and innovations. Working closely with the suppliers led me to develop great relationships in the industry, which is one of the foundations for my work today.
