Heading downstairs to put my shoes on, the pain in my back was unbearable.
And it was going to affect me in one of two ways.
I would spend the whole day rocking back and forth in agony or the pain running down my spine would be so sharp that I would hold my breath, unable to move.
I’d suffered from degenerative disc disease and scoliosis that had affected my back since I was 10.
Two discs were fusing together in my spine and this would get worse as I aged – I’d need a wheelchair one day.
The pain was debilitating, and I was reliant on strong painkillers prescribed by my GP and local pain clinic.
