Cradle cap
Q When I visited the hairdresser recently, she said I had cradle cap. I was so embarrassed as I thought it was only something that babies have. What would be the best way to treat it? Katherine, Doncaster

The term also refers to seborrheic psoriasis.
Many just call it dandruff. It is thought to be due to overgrowth of, or hypersensitivity to, a harmless yeast called Malassezia.
Use a medicated shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, selenium sulphide or ketoconazole.
Wet the hair, massage the shampoo into the scalp and wait 10 minutes before rinsing.
Scale can be removed before shampooing by using coconut
