Cradle cap

Q When I visited the hairdresser recently, she said I had cradle cap. I was so embarrassed as I thought it was only something that babies have. What would be the best way to treat it? Katherine, Doncaster

A Cradle cap is another name for seborrheic dermatitis (eczema) which occurs in both babies and adults.

The term also refers to seborrheic psoriasis.

Many just call it dandruff. It is thought to be due to overgrowth of, or hypersensitivity to, a harmless yeast called Malassezia.

Scale can be removed before shampooing by using coconut
