Is the South African ostrich industry turning the corner?

South Africa is the world leader in producing a wide range of ostrich products for both local and international markets. The country domesticated and began farming ostriches in the early 1860s, but it wasn't until the early 1900s that the industry began to boom.

Today, South Africa runs the most extensive ostrich operation in the world, producing approximately 70% of all ostrichrelated products, which include meat, leather and feathers.
