Farmers in Uganda have launched a presidium (committee) aimed at the protection of an indigenous banana variety known locally as the Ndaiga Ndiizi banana.
The presidium, launched earlier in March, seeks to wilt, and banana wilt transmitted by insects attracted to the nectar produced by the plant's flowers.
