MISSING MASTERPIECES
One evening in 1990, two men dressed as police officers rang the bell at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, US, and informed the night watchmen they were there to investigate a disturbance. After being allowed in, the men tied up the guards and stole 13 artworks, cutting some straight from their frames.
Among the stolen treasures was Rembrandt’s and Vermeer’s.
