It is with much sadness we report the passing of Cyril Thomas, who must have been one of the last of those that worked with steam in Cornwall. Cyril was very much inspired by his father’s experiences during the First World War where he spent some time working in the locomotive department of the Canadian Pacific Railway, whilst serving as a sergeant in the Royal Engineers. He also spent some time driving a Foden steam wagon for a relative, says Kevin Lean.
