My father Mick has been involved with steam since he was a young lad; he started at Hartlebury in the West Midlands where he was taught about traction engines by the late Eric Middleton, Frank Holl and Bill Walker, not forgetting Henry Netherway.
They were working most weekends on engines like 1907 Fowler and Eric Middleton’s famous 1922 Burrell scenic showman’s No.3909 , the big star engine in the area at the time, which has undergone major boiler work at Alton Engineering at present.
