AS MENTIONED IN MY LITTLE rambling at the beginning of the mag, I rode up to Lincolnshire on the BMW R100R(S) for a meeting. The previous days had been nice, the roads were dry, and like most of you, I suspect, I was itching to go for a ride. Especially a long ride, as the Beemer doesn’t feel like it’s warm until 50 miles.

Heading off early meant heading off in the dark. I haven’t got the auxiliary lights on yet, but I would hopefully see the sunrise, and I’d adjusted the H4 headlight since I last rode in the dark. I knew it would be chilly, so there I was, tucking everything into everything else, and I loaded up my sandwiches and set off down the dry lane.
