How to FIT AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP

Mechanical fuel pumps are pretty good; they provide fuel when you want it, at a rate that’s at the engine’s pace. The trouble is, when you add revs, they have a job to keep up. Certainly the cut-off point’s when you swap your twin choke for a pair of sidedraughts. It may cope, but if you go electric you’ll be sure.

On top of that, it’s common to fit a fuel pressure regulator too — you’ll certainly need one to supply a pair of sidedraughts with an accurate 3 psi of fuel. The one we’ve chosen from Rally Design’s catalogue is the industry standard Malpassi Filter King, which, as its name suggests, also filters the fuel. In fact it’s what that neat alloy bowl’s for: to house the filter.
