Janette MASON & James THOMPSON

Lullaby

Notes from the composers: Lullaby is an original composition from Relaxing Piano, a collection of 15 solo piano pieces by Piano Hive composers Janette Mason and James Thompson. The piece has a gentle, repetitive melody in a major key set against a syncopated LH part. There is only an initial dynamic marking of mp, so the core challenge is to control the tone with a light touch throughout. Listen carefully to the sound you produce and experiment with different finger pressures. Lullaby contains several rallentandos – take your time with these and take a deep breath before you set off again at the a tempo.

Created by both composers in 2020, Piano Hive’s core aim is of producing beautiful sounding pieces designed to improve technique and musicianship whilst being enjoyable to play and listen to. There are currently seven Piano Hive titles available
