This edition of the three Romances is taken from the third of three volumes devoted to Fauré’s solo piano music in Bärenreiter’s ongoing project to publish the composer’s complete works. They were written whilst Fauré was still a student, yet were not published until 1880, 20 years after their composition. At around Grade 7-8 and three to five pages long, these resemble Mendelssohn’s in their length, difficulty, and melodious character.
