Straight 6-6

This account is as much a story of what good friends are, as much as it’s about a Ford 6600.

Some years ago, whilst at primary school, my son, Edward, became friends with a local farmer’s son, and in his teenage years would help with haymaking on their farm.

Often, when I dropped him off, I would see a Ford 6600 on the hay rake, usually left ticking over with fumes coming out of the breather! Every year I asked if he would sell it to me and he often replied: “If it was up to me, you could have it!” He complained that it had no power and was not big enough
