Ireland have achieved a top-half finish in all but two of the 23 editions of the Six Nations, a level of consistency that often goes unheralded. Only 2008 (fourth) and 2013 (fifth) stain that proud record, with head coaches Eddie O’Sullivan and Declan Kidney each losing their job as a consequence.
