DAME KELLY HOLMES

Not only is she an Olympic legend, having won two gold medals for middle distance running in the 2004 Games in Athens, but now the athletics ace has become an LGBTQ+ icon too. Dame Kelly, 52, made the decision to come out as gay last year, explaining, ‘I needed to do this now, for me. It was my decision. I feel like I’m going to explode with excitement. Sometimes I cry with relief. The moment this comes out, I’m essentially getting rid of that fear.’
