In the mid-1930s, my large family lived in Mason City, Iowa, near the town dump. I was one of nine siblings, and my older siblings had been finding “treasures” at the dump, so I was anxious to go too! When I was around 5 years old, my mothergiving them strict instructions to watch over me.
