Back in 2019 AMCN met an Aussie living in LA by the name of Adam Tromp (AMCN Vol 69 No 05). Adam had an incredible collection of bikes sitting around his seemingly modest bike shop in Marina Del Rey in California, including many iconic sportsbikes from the 90s such as GSXR750s and 1100s, CBR900RR Fireblades and RC30s, Kawasaki ZXR750s and Yamaha YZF750s and FZR1000s. There was also plenty of European exotica, such as Bimotas and Ducatis, a selection of famous racebikes and even some oddities including a Honda Motocompo ‘trunk’ scooter.
Our initial impression of Adam was that he was a passionate and enthusiastic bloke who wanted to honour an era of bikes that could be seen as the ones that shaped the modern-day sportsbike. And what seemed to be a decent collection of bikes back then has, despite the interruption of Covid, grown exponentially. And with that growth, Adam’s company Iconic Motorbikes has had to employ a much larger team and find much larger premises from which to operate.
As well as walk-in customers, a big part of the company’s trade now comes through a relatively new website called Iconic Motorbikes Auctions, which conducts live online auctions of bikes and parts.
