THE ULTIMATE MTB BUCKET LIST!

What are your riding goals for 2023? Chances are, like most of us here at mbr, it’s to ride more. But if you’re also looking for ways to make your riding more varied this year, we have some suggestions.

We’ve put together a list of 32 things to do before the year is out that will make every ride different, and give you the motivation to explore new places with new people, getting fitter more quickly and pushing your skills to the next level – all while having fun on your bike.

01 FIX A TRAIL

Time and tyres mean that all trails need a bit of love to keep them running well. Make it a resolution to dedicate five minutes of every ride to keeping your trails in order. You don’t have to carry a mattock around with you either – kicking out clogged-up drainage, moving fallen branches and pruning back some handlebar-height brambles all help make a trail more fun to ride, with little effort.

02 RIDE 30 DAYS IN A ROW

A solid month of riding your bike might sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be, and the benefits are huge – you’ll be stronger, more in tune with your bike and have created the habit for going for a ride. Start your year with a big effort like this and the rest of your riding will just fall into place. The key is to avoid boredom and fatigue. Keep your riding varied, mix up big XC days with short sessions in the woods, laps of the local with new trails further afield. Do it right and 30 days will soon become 60…
