Nowadays, there are many products that do the job of what was once the preserve of a product that was apparently named after the War Department’s 40th product (have a think about it!), some of which are effective, others not so much.
When I first took spanners to the Bandit race bike project, I swiftly discovered numerous seized fasteners (and I’m still finding more) and I needed to get some penetrating fluid, and fast! I purchased the Molyslip Rusolvent through everyone’s favourite online auction site, but have since discovered it to be cheaper via the RDG Tools website mentioned above.
Now, I’ve used a lot of it on the Bandit, but the can doesn’t seem to be getting any lighter, with the fluid seeming to be far thicker than other products I’ve used before, meaning that it hangs around on stubborn fasteners for longer, thus giving it more chance to actually do the intended job.
