Ti West's shot-in-secret prequel to last year's X is a whip-smart origin story, one that offers more Goth – and more gore. Co-written by West and star Mia Goth, the film rewinds to 1918, where we meet Pearl (the elderly farm) as a young woman, living with her strict mother (Tandi Wright) and wheelchair-using father (Matthew Sunderland) on an isolated farmstead.
