ON THE RECORD with Marshall Crenshaw

“There She Goes Again”

wrote it in the kitchen in our apartment in Pelham, New York, sitting at the kitchen table drinking instant coffee and just kind of fooling around, humming and strumming, putting ideas on a cassette tape with my plastic ghetto blaster. I made a demo of it myself where I played the drums, but I could not play the triplet feel the way my brother could play it. He really slammed it and kept that triplet thing going. We didn’t use any click tracks on the first album either; the tempos are all real steady, and that’s all him.
