The reassurance and support provided by the ARC team and sailing community gave many the confidence to leave the dock. Canadian couple Lana and Stu Holmes were travelling. Lana said, ‘I was nervous about crossing the Atlantic as I’d never even been on an overnight passage. I thought the community, camaraderie, security in numbers and knowledge of our new friends would make me feel safer. The ARC has offered so many seminars on topics I knew nothing about and so I would spend every Saturday logged in online listening to the seminars. This gives me more confidence for our crossing.’
