Cutting
1 As you cut the fabrics, put them in labelled ziplock bags to avoid confusion when you begin to assemble the patchwork.
From the dark cream print fabric, cut:
• four strips, 22in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield four squares, 22in (appliqué background). Cut the leftover parts of three of these strips into 15 strips, 3½in x about 20in. Cross cut them to yield 72 squares, 3½in (A). Cut the leftover part of the fourth strip into four strips, 3in x about 20in. Cross cut them to yield 24 squares, 3in (B)• six strips, 3½in x• 26 strips, 2½in x width of fabric. Put eight of them aside for Border 1. Cross cut the remaining strips to yield 276 squares, 2½in (D)• three strips, 1½in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 72 squares, 1½in (W)
