Vincomte blows away the cobwebs

ANTHONY CONDON'S classy partner SFS Vincomte “blew off the cobwebs” to take a two-second win in the 1.40m winter grand prix, jumping one of just two clears from nine jump-off contenders.

The second phase looked as if it would be quick, as some consistent winners lined up for their shot, but a double across the central diagonal caused the majority of the field to fault.

Opening rounds from last year's winner Joe Trunkfield – this time riding Greenacres Vanquish – and Paul Barker (Green Grass) gave a good indication of the target time, but with four faults, before Tom Whitaker delivered the first clear with Amaretto Daisy.
