In the last couple of months, I’ve come across the theorbo player Christina Pluhar and her ensemble L’Arpeggiata. I have fallen in love with them, particularly their recordings Via Crucis and Teatro d’Amore, which is a journey through Monteverdi. Pluhar is a musician in every cell – she loves to experiment and take risks, she’s not conventional and you feel all the passion and love, but in playing of the highest quality. When you listen to her, you never know quite where she’s going to take you.
