Dusting the remaining ash from the fire pit, I moved it into the centre of the patio.
Adding newspaper and wood, I lit the contents to hear the roar of the flames.
As a family, me and my daughters Olivia, now 22, and Georgia, now 20, would love to spend an evening cuddled up next to the warmth of the fire.

And annually we made sure to celebrate with our own bonfire displays in the garden, inviting the rest of the family over to wave sparklers in the air – flames had become a tradition in our family.
So, when it came to renovating the girls’ bedrooms, getting rid of old furniture on a bonfire was the perfect idea.
