Our nasally flexible friend Pinocchio is having something of a renaissance, with both a live-action remake of the Disney classic and a stop-motion animation from Netflix appearing in 2022. Adding to that is a game that’s inspired by the iconic character but, like the latter film, goes darker.

Truth be told, the Pinocchio you play as looks a lot like a real boy, and – as does the combat, where every move is dictated by a stamina gauge and mistakes can be punished with brutal force.
