I WAS sorry to read in Manchester EBA’s latest newsletter that former local middleweight Jim Swords (described as an “old friend of MEBA”) died in January after being in poor health for some time. He was 80.

I never saw Jim box (most of his fights were in Manchester, and he never appeared in London) – but I certainly remember the name. Managed by future MEBA Life
