Trained to kill

I t was 1984 when 19-year-old Andrew Urdiales signed up to join the US Marines.

From Chicago, Illinois, he moved to California, where he underwent extensive training.

Learnt how to handle weapons, fight, defend himself if the time ever came when he would have to step forward for his country.

He appeared patriotic, ready to serve, but his skills would be used for far more sinister reasons…

One night in January 1986, Andrew headed to the campus of a local community college.

A hunting knife in his car.

There, he came across art student Robbin Brandley, 23, walking back to her car after volunteering as an usher at a piano concert.

Andrew attacked, punching her, stabbing her
