When a moving target is best

THROUGHOUT January, the birds stayed on the 4:1 mix of plain canary to breeders mix. Then at the start of February I changed this up and put the birds back on 100 per cent breeders mix. The reason for using plain canary was to help reduce any fat the birds might be carrying. Giving them the indoor aviary to fly around in keeps them active and, hopefully, fit. I add a little breeders mix because the birds spend ages picking through the plain canary looking for other seeds and I like the idea of keeping them occupied.

In January, once a week, I also gave some condition seed and eggfood. As I slowly bring the birds into condition in February, I increase
