PRINCESS GRACE OF MONACO

WHEN she met the man she’d one day marry, she was far more famous than him. She was at the pinnacle of her acting career, had an Oscar on her mantle and could pick and choose plum roles. She seemed to have it all.

And what she didn’t want, at first, was to be wooed by a prince – but of course, that’s not how the story ends.

Prince Rainier of Monaco eventually swept Grace Kelly off her feet and made her the princess of the pinprick principality on the French Riviera. Their life was one that made headlines around the world until the end when Grace died in a car crash at the age of 52.

A STAR IS BORN

Grace Patricia Kelly was born on 12 November 1929 into a wealthy Irish Catholic family in Philadelphia in the US, the third of four children.

She suffered from asthma and sinus problems. Unlike her sporty family, she was neither outgoing nor athletic.
