AUDIO-VISUAL RECEIVERS
Yamaha now has its Series 10 of Aventage multichannel receivers fully launched — four new models updating the range first released in 2010, referencing the idea of ‘AV entertainment for a new age’. Aventage has proven itself repeatedly over the last decade, through iterative improvements each year adding Dolby Atmos height channels, Yamaha’s MusicCast streaming multiroom platform, all the endless other pieces and abilities that go to make the model of a modern receiver. Their success can be gauged by Aventage receivers having won the top Sound+Image receiver award almost every year since.
Now we have Aventage Series 10 for a new decade — and the very latest Sound+Image Awards confirm not one but two winners, with both the entry-level RX-A2A and top RX-A8A model gathering gongs in the 2022 Awards. Let’s see why.
Aventage RX-A2A
The RX-A2A may be the junior Aventage model at $1599, but it is still a substantial receiver, tipping the scales at more than 10kg, with the usual full-width double-height design sitting on not four legs but five, the fifth being Yamaha’s Anti Resonance Technology (A.R.T.) wedge, long an Aventage differentiator providing extra rigidity to the chassis. Only the top panel with its venting slots presents an obviously plastic surface.
