In the line of fire

DORA WADD HAS taken a year out of work to concentrate on showjumping and it is going well, with a win at 1.25m level at her first international competition last autumn with Tin Tin Telebards Watson. This year they have their sights set on even bigger and better things, but it is comforting to those of us with less lofty aspirations to hear that Dora struggles with certain things, just as we all do. Equally, it is reassuring to hear that Mia's advice to her high-achieving pupils like Dora applies to us all, no matter how big we are jumping. We all need to focus on the basics: keeping our horses straight and in a rhythm, following the Scales of Training and thinking positively. Beyond that, the only thing holding us back is our ambition and bank balance!
