It’s World Book Night on April 23 – Shakespeare’s birthday, and possibly also the anniversary ofIt is held with the aim of bringing people from all backgrounds together to inspire others to read more. Organisations and individuals will be holding events up and down the country to celebrate the difference that reading can make in people’s lives, from book themed parties at home to books swaps in offices. The Reading Agency notes that reading for pleasure is a globally recognised indicator in a huge range of social issues from poverty to mental health, yet in England 36% of people don’t regularly read.
