Q How did you get into wildlife art?

I've been fascinated by natural history and drawing animals ever since I was old enough to pick up a pencil. At art school my tutors encouraged me to pursue the subject. Over the years I've looked at different ways in which we understand animals, in particular anthrozoology – how different animals are perceived in religion, folklore, society and so on — and I'm fascinated by how organisms have evolved.

Q Are there particular animals that inspire you?

I've always been drawn to animals that present a threat to humans, whether it's a great white shark, a lion or a fat-tailed scorpion. I'm not saying that everything that can
