MATERIALS
• J. P. Coats Royale Opera size 20 crochet cotton (442 yds per ball): 1 ball #518 sage 250 yds #523 tea rose
• DMC Cebelia size 20 crochet cotton (405 yds per ball): 275 yds #712 cream
• Size 8/1.5mm steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Size 8 inline steel crochet hook
• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
• Stitch markers
GAUGE
Center Briar Rose = approximately 2 inches in diameter
PATTERN NOTE
Use size 8/1.5mm steel hook unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCHES
Padded ring: Wrap thread 8 to 10 times around blunt end of size G hook. Gently slide lps off and insert size 8 steel hook with your working thread in ring, pull lp through and sc in ring. Do not wrap thread too tightly or you will have trouble sliding it off the hook and retaining its shape.
Double crochet cluster (dc cl): Holding back last lp of each st on hook, 3 dc as indicated, yo, pull through all lps on hook.
Bullion stitch (bullion st): Wrap thread around inline hook the number of times indicated in pattern, insert hook in st as indicated, pull lp through, yo, pull through all lps on hook. Do not pull up tight, yo and pull through lp to secure st.
Beginning popcorn (beg pc): Ch 3, 4 tr in same st, drop lp from hook, insert hook in top of beg ch-3, pull dropped lp through.
Popcorn (pc): 5 tr as indicated, drop lp from hook, insert hook in top of first tr of group, pull dropped lp through.
Picot: Ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
Ch 3, holding back last lp of each st on hook, 3 tr as indicated, yo, pull through all lps on hook.
