It was an all-too-familiar story. If West had kept quiet on this week’s deal, declarer would have drifted two or three down in Six Spades. He greedily doubled, however, and that altered the complexion completely.
Declarer won West’s Diamond lead with his Ace, then crossed to the King of Clubs to lead the ten of Hearts, covered by East’s Knave and won by the King (West discarding a Spade – best). Declarer
