RESEARCH VESSEL FOR SCRAP The Canadian Coast Guard has awarded a C$1.1 million contract to R.J. MacIsaac Construction of Halifax to dismantle the 59-year-old ocean research vessel CCGS Hudson after the vessel was decommissioned early last year due to a failure in her starboard engine. Although a new offshore oceanographic science vessel is being built for the CCG in British Columbia, it is not expected to be delivered until 2025. JS
DUAL-FUEL CSOVS Rotterdam-headquartered Acta Marine has ordered two DP2 dual-fuel Construction Service Operating Vessels (CSOVs) from Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard for delivery before the end of next year. To be completed to an Ulstein SX-216 Twin-X Stern design, the 89m by 19m ships will be capable of operating on methanol and conventional fuel.
