Current hyper-technological boats need more and more electric energy to work. This is why electric power generators cannot fail to be onboard a boat. We faced the topic with Mase Generators experts.
Electric propulsion in its various forms (full electric, hybrid, diesel-electric) is radically changing naval propulsion, as well as the ground one. Not only engines as such are actually undergoing the change: it is rather about the entire system that generates, handles and transforms energy. A complex system that requires functional and efficient interaction between components: engines, electricity generators, batteries, inverters, control units and much more.
Within such a complex scheme, electric energy generators are essential elements in any significantly sized boat; they produce energy for the onboard hotel, i.e. services, and provide energy for propulsion in case of electric or hybrid systems. In this context, generators must interact with all other elements of the system we were hinting at. Therefore, and necessarily, generators manufacturers show deep knowledge of the issue.
To better understand generators, how they work and combine with a complex system, we asked Luigi Foresti some questions, as president of Mase Generators. The Cesena-based Company has been ahead of time for 50 years in innovating and developing all kind of electric generators. A pioneering spirit
