THIS MONTH IN THE GARAGE...

PRACTICAL SCOOTERING TECH TIPS

Those of you who watch my YouTube channel may well have seen the videos that I put out over lockdown, to help scooterists strip, service and re-jet their carburettors. That information was a basic guide, written from years of accumulated dyno experience, intended as a starting point from which each owner could then road test, plug chop and tweak to their personal requirements. The videos were well received and continue to get significant views, but it occurred to me that I should perhaps do an updated video-blog, illustrating my findings since E10 was brought to market in September 2021.

Throughout 2022, I saw an increasing trend of scooters consistently needing richer settings than ever before. There were certain patterns pre-2021 that you would see over and over, for examples sub-200cc engines with Clubman exhausts and air filters might struggle to get above AV264 atomiser, X7 needle, 52 pilot, and 122 main.
