Carla Stefaniak was living the dream.

In November 2018, she and her sister-in-law, April Burton, had flown from Florida to Costa Rica for a week-long celebration of Carla’s 36th birthday.
Five days of surfing, eating fresh fruit and soaking in hot springs, all surrounded by lush rainforest – idyllic.
Avid social media user Carla loved travelling, and documented her trips on her Instagram page – a post on 25 November showed her lying next to an aquamarinecoloured infinity pool.
