YOUNG AT HEART

There was a time, back in the ’80s and 90s, when the ‘new wave’ VW scene was thriving and full of spotty youngsters. Back then, VWs could be picked up for a pittance. These days though, any Volkswagen seems to hold its value especially well compared to other brands, so owners are a tad older, with a lot of those teenage ‘new wave’ guys and girls still with the scene in their forties and fifties, like me.

I guess the difference between my generation and the current one is that we weren’t smartphone, social media and tech-obsessed back then and more people had the patience – and time – to truly commit to something and stick with it... I know I’m generalising (and probably sounding ancient!), but it’s a refreshing surprise these days to meet young folk with proper old-school values.
