Stigma under the microscope

hese are the reproductive organs of under confocal microscopy. At the centre of the image is the stigma, the site at which pollen germinates, seen as small green spheres. The short tubular structures are known as the plant’s stigmatic papillae – these are designed to trap grains of pollen.
